NATO forces say a helicopter has crashed in southern Afghanistan, killing 2 US service members who were aboard.

NATO says it is investigating the cause of the crash. Spokeswoman Lt. Commander Katie Kendrick says hostile fire has not been ruled out.

Taliban spokesman Qari Yousef Ahmadi says the helicopter was shot down by their forces.

A spokesman for the provincial government of southern Helmand province, Daoud Ahmadi, says the helicopter went down in the area of Lashkar Gah, the biggest city in the province.
