"Work" or "workspace," W says no either way

A Freudian slip from a vacation-minded White House transcriber?

Maybe it was a Freudian slip from a White House transcriber accustomed to spending more of August in Crawford.

In the initial version of the White House transcript of today's presidential press conference, a reporter is quoted as asking the president, "Are you going to go to work today?" A "corrected" version of the transcript sets the record straight. What the reporter actually asked, it seems, was, "Are you going to come visit our workspace?"

It was a reference to the across-the-street digs where the Bush administration has stashed the press corps while it renovates the White House press briefing room. The president's answer was the same either way: "No."
